A Local History and Heritage Group for Charlestown, Limekilns & District
About Us
The Gelllet Society was formed in October 1990 to allow residents of the local community (Charlestown & Limekilns), with an interest in local history and heritage, to meet on a monthly basis. The Society organises a speaker for each meeting and takes an active role in archiving information such as old photographs of the area and anything to do with the industrial heritage of the villages. The Society's focus is on the history and heritage of Charlestown, Limekilns and the district lying south and west of Dunfermline.
Next meeting: 12th December 2024. Speaker: Deputy Lieutenant Col Jim Kinloch. Topic: The History of the One O'clock Gun and Gun Salutes.
Our Meetings
The Society meets on the second Thursday of the month from September through April. Meetings are held in the Queens Hall Charlestown, KY11 3EG, starting at 7.10 p.m. Our membership fee is £8 per year which includes tea, coffee, and biscuits on the evening. Visitors are welcome at any time and a single-entry fee of £4 will be charged.
